Another thing you need to know is that you need a Google account to sign in to your YouTube before making any video upload. If you do not have a Google account at this point then you need to create one.

YouTube offers lots of options for you while uploading a video such as the ability to add music or sound effect to your video using the YouTube audio library, converting your video to a supported format using the ‘YouTube’s Troubleshooter’, and the ability to remove the existing sound effect on your video and add another one, and so many other features.

Assuming you have finished the preparation of your video after making your video coverage and converting it to a supported format and making all necessary edition works on it, you are now ready to upload the video to your YouTube account.

Signup for a YouTube account and then log in with your details. You will be taken to your YouTube Dashboard.

On the dashboard, you will see a video icon at the top right corner of the dashboard just after your user icon, messages, apps, & notifications.

Click on the video icon, then click on the ‘Upload Video’ button.

You will be directed to a file upload popup where you can select the video file from your device folder and click the ‘Select files to Upload’ button. Alternatively, you can drag and drop the file into the file upload page.

At this stage, you have successfully uploaded your video to YouTube. However, you need to carry out some SEO settings on the video so that Search Engines can easily pick it up when viewers are searching for such a video.

To carry out the SEO settings you need to edit the video details such as; Title and description, add tags. These details will assist the search engine to understand the video and know when to show it during a video search.

The next step is to carry out some editing on the video before it goes live online.  First, use the Audio library to add audio effects to your video. This is necessary if the video does not have audio or if you want the audio to replace with music or something else from the Audio library on YouTube.

Another editing effect is to blur faces. This effect allows you to blur the face or faces of people in the video. In case you are uploading a sensitive video and want to keep the privacy of people in the video you can use the effect to blur their faces.

The next stage is to add an end screen to the ending seconds of the video. The end screen should show other videos in your channel with the caption like ‘Additional Videos’ then add links and Subscription button. There are templates you can apply for this purpose.

The next editing is to add cards to the video. Cards contain a ‘call to action’ such as a link to a website with customized images and titles. This is very common if the video is promoting content or a product or trying to show additional places to get more information concerning the video. Then add a closed Caption on the video and upload the video.

At this point your video has gone online, now it is visible to anyone online and most importantly, visible to search engines. You can increase the viewing rate and engagement on the video by sharing the link to friends on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and through emails.
