Have a registered MTN SIM Card
You must be in an area covered by the MTN network service.
Ensure the person or device you intend to send the data to is using an MTN SIM Card.
From your mobile phone screen, dial the following codes *136*5# on your phone.
Select ‘manage bundles’ from the list of options that will popup again select ‘data share’ and follow the next prompts.
Assuming you are using myMTNApp, send a direct SMS keyword or dial direct shortcodes for the respective options.

Send a Text Message with the following subject: ’Transfer’ <space> ‘phone number’ <space> ‘amount of the data you are transferring’ and then send it to 131. Let me show you an example of what I mean, assuming you are want to sand 1GB to a friend’s phone 08012345678. Here is how the text message will look on your phone screen: Transfer 08012345678 1GB. That is how the message should appear. Afterward, send it to 131 as the recipient.
Another option is to dial a direct code *131*phone number*Data Amount#. In this case, you are going to dial; *131*08012345678*1GB# and send it with your phone dialing button for further instructions.

In case you do not have data to share with someone and you really want to send data to the person, MTN still has a solution to it. Please note that this option still applies to only MTN SIM Cards.
To buy data for someone directly from the airtime on your mobile phone, here is what you need to do:
Ensure you have enough airtime in your phone to cover the cost of the data you are buying for the person otherwise, the code will not work.
Copy out the number or memorize it to enable redial it in case the first or second code dialing did not work.
To purchase data for another MTN Number dial *136*3# and follow the prompts from the popups.
Another option, from your phone screen, dial the following code *131*Bundle Activation Code*beneficiary’s phone number# in case you do not understand the code here is the meaning of the mentioned subjects; “Bundle Activation Code means the code for the buying of the size of data you want to buy. For instance, 1GB maybe 3, 1.5GB maybe 4, 2GB maybe 5, and so forth but I am only using the mentioned number as an example please lookup to know the code for the size of data you want to buy by dialing *131# and follow the list of services in the popup”. Another subject that needs explanation is the beneficiary phone number, this simply means the phone number of the person you are sending the data to.

Assuming you have sent a data gift request from a friend and you have not received any response, there is a way you can view if the request actually went through or if the request was canceled. Assuming the request went through you will view it from the following code *131*7*4#.
