However, it is one thing to get a template online while it is another thing to know the right information to input. Even after getting all these right, you still need to get the set-up properly.

 

Your Resume is a professional way of telling your prospective employer that you are capable of the job you are applying to. Every detail that appears on your Resume should emphasize why you are a good fit for the organization. Therefore, you need to present your resume in a way that makes your prospective employer catch the important details at a glance. You don’t want your file to be tossed without going through the contents. Besides, a well-organized Resume passes a subtle message across that you are an organized professional.

So how do you set up your CV professionally?

Starting with your name, there are things you should ensure. Always make your name is typed with the largest font size. It does not matter if you are going to centralize it or align it to the side. Just make sure it is the biggest detail in terms of the font size. Also, your contact information should be as brief as possible. A suitable format should include your Mobile number, e-mail address, and your city & state of residence. To spice it up, you can add a link to your personal portfolio to impress your prospective employer. Any other contact detail apart from the ones stated is unnecessary.

Moving on to the next item is your Professional Overview. Your professional overview is an insight into your strengths, skills, years of experience, and how much you have contributed to your past places of employment. If you have figures to back up your results, feel free to include them. For example, you can state that you were able to convert 90% of prospects to full-time customers in your first year at XYZ firm.

Additionally, you can highlight your skills and also your proficiency in them. Some templates online provide very good aesthetics to back up the details on your Resume. Although some employers pay little attention to it, it is necessary to include your skills. You may be asked about it if you get interviewed.

 

The next item to follow is your Work History. Make sure you input all relevant details about your past work experience. if you are applying for a job that is similar to the past ones, you need to list all your past achievements in that field. It gives you an edge.

The next part to input is your Education History. This part should include your academic achievements in the past. You can also include extra-curricular certifications that you have gathered in the course of sharpening your skills.

Additionally, you can input your interests at the end of your Resume. They are secondary. Besides, some employers pay little or no attention to it. Nevertheless, it should be added last.

 

So, this is the arrangement of a professional Resume. For clarity, make the headings as clear as possible for each section. Also, do not use more than two colors if you are looking to add color; it is a Resume, not a design contest.

Also, remember that a good CV does not get you the job automatically. It gets you into the interview room and increases your chances of getting hired.
