HOW TO SHARE YOUR AIRTEL DATA
This post will talk more about data transfer between Airtel networks. There reasons why data transfer is very necessary for the modern life of the internet age. Some Airtel subscribers may not be able to use data due to the type of phone they are using.
Imagine after buying and registering an Airtel SIM Card, you inserted it into your mobile phone probably the time that does not use data like most small java phones that cannot access the internet and you received a message telling you that you have received about 2GB free data as a new subscriber just after loading your first recharge. It is obvious that you cannot consume the data in your java phone that cannot access the internet. The only option available to you is to transfer the data to someone who is using a smartphone or perhaps, you have another phone with internet access using Airtel SIM Card. Transferring the data will make it possible for you to use it.
Basically, Airtel didn’t introduce this service just sharing of data from java phones to smartphone rather it was meant to help relatives, friends, and loved ones to transfer data to one another and equally help one person to buy data for another person by paying directly with credit in the SIM Card of the sender. Airtel’s official page for this service reads: “You can “share” or “transfer” from the data allowance of an already purchased data bundle to another customer. For example, if you have purchased a 1.5GB Monthly, you can transfer 100MB to another customer.” That explains it all.
Airtel provided two methods in carrying out this operation. One is called ‘Data Me2U’ also known as ‘Data Share’ the next method is called “Data Gifting”. Let me drop some detail about these methods and how each operates:

how to transfer data with AIRTEL Me2U Service using a smartphone
DATA ME2U (DATA SHARE)
Data Me2U is a special data transfer service meant for Airtel subscribers, this service works between Airtel SIM Card to Airtel SIM Card. This simply means if your phone number is not Airtel it wouldn’t work and if you are using an Airtel number but intend to send the data to someone using another network it will not still work.
The use of this data transfer service is very simple and quick. Here is a simple way you can transfer data to your loved ones in a matter of seconds:
- Open your phone dial folder.
- Type the following code *141# and send it as though you are calling the number.
- A popup with a list of services will appear telling you to select the service operation you intend to do.
- In other words, select the “Me2U” option and send it.
- Once you have done this correctly, another option in the popup list will prompt you to specify the amount of data, the phone number you are sending the data, and other necessary information.
Once you have carried out the instruction carefully, an SMS will be sent to you informing you of the data transfer and your recipient will receive SMS notification regarding the data transfer.
DATA GIFTING
Data gifting is another method you can use to get data into someone’s else phone however, this one use doesn’t need to share the data in your phone instead Airtel will charge you directly from your credit on your phone. This service is useful if you don’t usually buy data on your phone but need to assist your children or loved ones to get data by buying it for them directly from the recharge card credit (airtime) on your phone.
To carry out this operation here are steps to follow: (though similar to the first method the difference is to select ‘Data Gifting’ instead of Me2U in the list of options in the popup)
- Open your phone dial folder on your screen.
- Type the following code *141#.
- Send the code as though you are calling the number.
- A popup with a list of services will appear prompting you to make a selection of the service operation you want to carry out.
- At this point, select the “Data Gifting” option and send the code as you did with the code.
- Once you have done this correctly, another option in the popup list will prompt you to specify the amount of data, the phone number you are sending the data, and other necessary information.
After everything has been done, an SMS will be sent to your phone informing you of your credit deduction and the amount of data transferred to your recipient.
A similar SMS will be sent to the recipient of the data informing the recipient of how much data was sent, who sent it, and other vital information.
At this point, you have successfully transferred data to your loved ones without delay. Note that once you do this twice, it will become very simple to you and will make you provide data to your loved ones within a minute.
